| Many workers in the largely degraded and poor 2/3rds world need this form of training. In almost every field of activity, workers are confronted with people who are in need physically, as well as spiritually. There is an urgent need to be able to help people access and develop their resources in a sustainable way. The resources that God has provided as our sustainer, must be stewarded as part of sharing the good news in word and deed. Similarly many Christians in the west are starting to have their eyes opened to the true consequences of 'externalizing costs' in our current global society. They are fed up with being a part of that system and want to have the tools and opportunities to be able to love God and others in a practical way. Whether that be in their own backyard or short or long term work overseas. EARS equips Christians in full time ministry, those training to go into full time ministry and those who want to participate more fully in their community's local stewardship of environmental resources. They discover how to evaluate and modify their personal witness as well as help others to enjoy the full benefits of God's provision, and sustaining development of their lives. Participants will learn to evaluate environmental resources, and learn strategies for restoration and sustainable development. Through the use of case studies, field trips, lectures, independent projects and a hands on study tour the Environment And Resource Stewardship (EARS) school gives a comprehensive understanding of current issues regarding the environment and natural resources with an emphasis on the environment surrounding the school host site, and field study tour sites. EARS examines how bringing the Kingdom of God through His sustaining development can be accomplished by helping people meet their spiritual and physical, real and felt needs in ways that glorify God, protect His creation, and transform lives. Our desire is to see the church in general discover the glory of God in His creation, and rise up in their role as stewards, witnessing to God's importance by adding a life focus of stewarding His creation in His wisdom. The EARS school is an academic and applied training program registered with University of the Nations' College of Science and Technology - Course number SAT 323 (SAT 423 at the Master's level). |
